We specialize in Solano County grown wool, but I have some other favorites in the shop. My new favorite non-Solano County yarn is U.S. grown and processed Nature Spun from Brown Sheep Company. That is available in the shop at the farm, but it’s too hard to keep up with on-line listings since I am using the yarn here for my own weaving. I have Ashford kits listed here.
June 2026: I sold out of Jacob wool yarn and this year’s clip is at the mill. The Solano County Timm Ranch yarn is listed here. I hope to have naturally dyed yarns available soon.
Jacob Worsted Weight Yarn - 2025 clip
Jacob Worsted Weight Yarn - 2025 clip
100% Jacob Yarn in 4 colors.
This is the prime wool from our 2025 shearing, sorted into colors, and spun into 2-ply worsted weight yarn. I sort the coarser britch wool away from the bulk of the fleece. Then I sort the remaining fiber into white, black, and gray. The gray fiber includes parts of the white and black that can't easily be separated so there are fibers of both colors in the strands of gray yarn. Some of the lilac fleeces are processed without sorting white and colored fiber. The fiber was scoured, carded, and spun at Valley Oak Wool Mill in Yolo County, CA.

Jacob sheep are a rare breed with unique spotted fleeces and 2 or 4 horns! Our flock grazes irrigated pasture 3/4 of the year and is fed locally grown alfalfa during the winter. We use intensive grazing management to promote the health of the pasture and the sheep, and we iimplement low stress handling technques when working with the sheep (many of whom are pets).
