Jacob lamb is tender, juicy, and a perfect choice for that special meal or everyday summer grilling.

Our lambs are grassfed and humanely raised.
From July through September we sell lambs for the freezer. These are mostly Jacob ram lambs that do not meet our requirements for breeding and BFL-Jacob crossbreds. The rams are moved at four months to a smaller field and fed locally grown alfalfa hay. The wethers and crossbred ewe lambs remain on the pasture.
NEW THIS YEAR: Farm slaughter is now an option and lambs may be delivered to butcher shops in Napa, Solano, Yolo, Yuba, Placer Counties.
I sell the lambs based on their live weight. Customers can expect from 40-45% of the live weight in weight of meat and can choose whether or not to take organs. Lambs will be harvested on the farm (for complete butcher services off-site including cut, wrap, and freeze) or delivered to Nature’s Bounty (customer wraps and freezes). See details of these options below. In all cases the customer pays me based on the live weight on the day of harvest (and the slaughter fee) and pays the processor when picking up the meat.
1. Size - live weight at $2.50/lb
Small lamb : 65-75 pounds
Medium lamb: 76 - 85 pounds
Large lamb: 86 - 99 pounds
X-Large lamb: 100+ pounds
Repeat customers will be familiar with lamb delivery to and meat pick-up at Nature’s Bounty. This option is limited in 2019 because of the owner’s travel plans. I now have a great option for farm harvest and delivery to one of the following several locations. Each of these is a butcher shop with complete cutting and wrapping services including ground meat and sausage. We just used Browns Valley Meat for an older cull sheep and were very pleased with the Italian sausage we ordered. Each of these shops will work with you for specific cutting and wrapping instructions. An alternative is that the lamb be harvested here and the you pick it up and deliver it to a butcher shop of your choice that might be closer to you. See the key information about these shops below and click the links or call them to find out more.
You will choose a pick up location:
Brown’s Valley Meat, Napa
Dan’s Game Processing, Foresthill
Gates Ranch Meat Company, Vacaville
Manas Ranch Custom Meats, Esparto
T-Bone’s Custom Meat Shop, Auburn
Tootle’s Custom Cutting Butcher Shop, Marysville
Pick up freshly cleaned carcass here and deliver to a butcher shop of your choice.
Scheduling harvest may be the most difficult part of this process. Some$45 of the butcher shops that I have listed are completely booked during part of the summer because they process the animals sold at the local fairs. We need to schedule when they have room and also when the on farm slaughter person is available. Most of the shops expect the customer to pick up the meat within a week of when the processing is finished.
Lambs are $2.50/lb live weight.
Farm kill fee is $45 to $85 per lamb, paid to me, depending on which person does this job. The money goes directly to him.
Butcher fee varies from $65 to $99, paid to the butcher shop when you pick up your lamb.
