The Jacob sheep is an “unimproved” or “primitive” breed. The wool on the back leg may be coarser than the rest of the fleece. I sort that away from the medium-fine fleece when I am sending the wool for processing. Last year I had the mill spin new Core-spun Yarn. In previous years I had it spun into “normal” 2-ply yarn. I have used this for homegoods—weft in some of my blankets, warp and weft in table mats, and warp for rugs using the core-spun yarn as weft.
