Bessie- Jacob fleece

Sale Price:$38.00 Original Price:$77.00

We sheared in January 2026. It took me several months to finish skirting and sorting. Almost all fleeces are now either sold or at the mill for processing.

Four fleeces are offered for sale and two are ON SALE because they have cotted tips. As you can see in the photos there is plenty of good fleece if those tips are snipped off. The fleece samples are on a card that is 4” × 6”.

Bessie’s fleece is 3.8 pounds. Regular price is $17/pound but I have dropped this to $10/pound.

Read info below about the fleeces I offer for sale. Refer to this FAQ for ideas about using your Jacob fleece.

Fleeces have been lightly skirted to remove the less desirable wool around the edges. The sheep are not coated so there may be bits of vegetable matter. Any VM in our fleeces is not burrs or stickers but usually alfalfa so most shakes out as the fleece is processed. Jacob sheep often have a coarser wool on the lower part of the back leg. If that wool is significantly coarser than the rest you may want to sort it out and use it for a project where coarser fiber doesn’t matter or is even preferred.

The tips of the fleece may appear brown. That is from sun-bleaching. The inner part of the staple is usually black unless it is from a sheep with “lilac” coloring. Go to this blog post to see photos of black and white and lilac Jacob sheep.
