We offer a variety of small, in-person weaving classes. If you see a class that you would like to take but it is not
scheduled or at a time that you can’t come please email Robin to schedule a class.
I started to offer virtual classes in 2021, but it seems difficult to offer the kind of class I like to present.
The exception is our Wednesday Weavers—Zoom is great for that! And we throw in a few in-person activities as well.
Wild & Crazy Weaving
Wild & Crazy Weaving
Have you ever seen those vibrant, free-spirited skeins at a fiber festival and thought, “That would make an amazing warp… if only I knew how to use it!” The knots, random lengths, and playful textures can feel intimidating—but they don’t have to stop you.
In this class, you’ll learn how to turn a gorgeous (if untamed) skein (like the ones from Art Fiber Frenzy) into a warp you can weave with confidence. I’ll share the method I’ve developed over the past two years to manage the quirks of these yarns and harness their full color and texture. By the end of the day, you’ll have your skein on the loom and be weaving it into a one-of-a-kind scarf or shawl.
✨ What you’ll learn:
How to handle knots, random lengths, and mixed textures in the warping process
Tricks for maximizing color play and texture in the finished cloth
Tips for warping and weaving efficiently, no matter what yarn you use
Planning notes:
A skein under 300 yards works best for a scarf under 10” wide
Up to 380 yards will give you a wider piece (on an 18” loom)
You bring the warp and I’ll provide the weft.
Details:
📅 Sunday, November 9, 2025 · 9:30 AM–4:30 PM (Optional: spend a few hours on Monday to finish if necessary; see**)
Experience level: Must have basic warping/weaving experience. My Learn to Weave class (floor loom) counts for this.
👥 Limited to 5 students (additional sessions may be scheduled if full)
📍 Looms up to 18” weaving width will be available (or bring your own)
Homework: Purchase an Art Yarn skein from Art Fiber Frenzy . Please wind your skein into a ball before class.
Bring:
Your ball(s) of yarn
Scissors
Tape measure
Tapestry needle for hemstitching
Optional: Your own 4-shaft loom.
**⏳ Note: Everyone works at their own pace! While I can typically warp and weave a shawl project in a day, beginners may want to start narrower, especially if using one of my looms. If you need more time, arrangements can be made to return the next day and finish weaving.
