Getting Groovy with Art Batts & Corespun Yarn

$175.00

Far out, fiber friends! Step into a world of color, texture, and funky vibes as we explore two of the raddest (and complimentary) fiber techniques around: art batt carding and core spinning.

We’ll start by carding up some psychedelic art batts—layering wild fibers, locks, sparkle, and colorful add-ins to make blends full of personality. Then, we’ll hop on the spinning wheel and dive into core spinning—wrapping fibers around a stable core thread to create strong, lofty yarns with serious flower-power flair.

Our adventure will include:

🌼 Core spinning basics: selecting your core, drafting, tension, and other techniques to create the textured yarn of your dreams (with the hand/drape you desire)!

🌼 Tricks for adding locks, sparkle, beads, and other funky surprises.

🌼 A buffet-style fiber feast for you to experiment to your heart’s content with various drum carding techniques we will discuss, and-

🌼 Finishing techniques so your yarns stay groovy and balanced.

You’ll leave with a custom batt (or two!), a skein of corespun art yarn, and the confidence to keep experimenting—ready to spin on with peace, love, and texture.

Level: Confident beginner to intermediate (able to spin a continuous thread).

Materials: All fiber and batt ingredients provided (as well as drum carders to share). Please bring your spinning wheel in good working order and your go-to spinning supplies. Larger orifices are recommended but not required.

Optional Equipment: Your personal drum carder (if owned), hand cards, Lock Pop,  scoured fibers/goodies to play with or share.

A limited number of drum carders will be available onsite to purchase, if desired.
