Clasped Warp Scarf on a Rigid Heddle Loom

$85.00

Clasped weft is a clever technique that enables the weaver to maintain two separate colors in a weft pick without using tapestry techniques. It can be used in a defined and planned manner or free-form as you weave. Imagine having that same freedom of color change in your warp!! Direct warping of a rigid heddle loom lends itself beautifully to this idea. You will learn both clasped weft and clasped warp technique in this class. You will bring a rigid heddle loom with a 5 or 6 dpi reed (or make arrangements to rent one) and warp it for a scarf in class using the clasped warp technique. The class project will be woven with a single weft (with clasped weft accents if desired) using Solano County fine wool yarn or colorful Ashford DK yarn. By seeing examples you will learn how to plan the appropriate set and wet finish the project when weaving with an unfinished yarn. You will warp the loom using the clasped warp technique and begin your weaving. Weaving will be finished at home. Yarn is included in the class fee.

Experience level: Must have warped and woven on a rigid heddle loom at least once.
Next class scheduled: TBA Contact Robin to schedule.
Reference: Project and article in Little Looms, 2022.
