It’s difficult to schedule classes for more than one person and I have learned that sometimes it’s just easier to set up private lessons at your convenience.

In about two hours you will learn spinning terminology, about the different types of wheels, and the basics of how wool is spun into yarn. We’ll start with beautifully prepared and easy-to-spin Jacob roving and you will be spinning by the end of the session!

If you choose to schedule a follow-up class you you will learn to ply your singles yarn, ending up with 2-plied yarn, and how to prepare fiber for spinning using handcards or a drum carder. We'll also discuss how to choose the right wool and the appropriate spinning style for your desired use.

You will have the opportunity to spin on several models of wheels made by Ashford, Clemes & Clemes, and Schacht and to find out what type of spinning wheel suits you and how to purchase one. You can rent a wheel ($25/week) so that you can practice at home. If you purchase a wheel from me I’ll apply that rental fee to the cost of the wheel.
