Gardener's Gold Wool Pellets - A Speciality Fertilizer and Soil Amendment

from $17.00

Gardner’s Gold Wool Pellets are made from a blend of wool shorn from sheep and alpacas in northern California. The pellets are made from waste wool known as tags (shorn from the rear end), bellies (short, sometimes felted  belly wool), and crutchings/skirtings (fiber less desirable for prime fiber market).

The batch I sell is truly local—from sheep at Meridian Jacobs and alpacas at Integrity Alpacas, a mile away. The pellets are made at Integrity Alpacas using the first American made shredding machine.

Why wool pellets?

  • Reduce water use! Wool fibers naturally expand to hold water and make it available for plants.

  • Aerate soil! As the soil dries and absorbs water held in the pellets, the pellets continue to provide natural porosity and aeration.

  • Fertilize! As the pellets decompose, they nourish the soil with an N-P-K of 11-0.1-3.

  • The ultimate in recycling!
