Jacob sheep produce a medium-fine fleece that is easy to wash and easy to spin. The wool can be spun in a number of ways. Some spinners like to spin the natural colors randomly and other separate the wool into colors. The color sorters may sort into simply light and dark or into white, black and multiple shades of gray. Remember, a mix of white and black makes gray, so you can create an infinite number of shades from one fleece. You can also choose a sheep that has mostly black or mostly white, depending on the look that you want.
Our sheep are shorn in February and spinners are invited to purchase fleeces at Shearing Day. Some fleeces that aren't sold then will be listed on-line, but they don't last long. Check back next February.
