Paint Your Warp!

Next class: April 5, 2018, 10:00-2:00

Inspiration comes from many places--travel photos, calendars, your garden, a sunset. The list is endless. How do you translate a favorite memory or image into a handwoven piece? Learn how to add color to your weaving in the most unique way. You will start with a warp and apply the color ("painting") in selected areas. When woven the colors change throughout the length of the piece, even when using a solid color weft. This adds fun to the weaving process as well as creating a truly unique item.

Learn how to choose the best weft yarn to complement your colorful personalized warp.

Dyes are formulated for use on either protein or cellulose fibers. In the class we'll use acid dyes for protein fibers. Warps should be wool, silk, or other animal fiber. You can bring your own or purchase warps already wound.

This class is taught outside. Dress accordingly. If there is rain we will move the class to the barn.
