The Yarn: Each year I design a new batch of yarn. The current yarns are spun at Mountain Meadow Wool Mill with wool from two other Solano County farms and/or my Jacob wool. I dye some of the yarns with plants grown here on the farm.
The Kit: The Lineate Cap pattern uses three colors of our yarn—natural white and naturally dyed contrast and accent colors.
Raw Material: Stephany Wilkes is a Farm Club member, sheep shearer, and now author. In her book she tells, in a most entertaining way, of experiences that led her down the path to become a sheep shearer and how she became heavily involved in northern California’s Fibershed, now a nation-wide movement. She also introduces the culture of clothing and textiles, how it has changed in the last decades, and that consumers are beginning to relate the consciousness of “locally grown” and “slow food” to textile production.
Facebook Group: This is a private group only for Farm Club members. Sometimes my posts are brief, but other times there may be in-depth topics that range from sheep health to pasture management to tips for natural dyeing. Posts include photos and videos. The Lambing Journal is updated daily throughout lambing season. Members will be encouraged to participate in conversations and ask questions.
Facebook Live: Members will be able to join me in doing chores or other farm activities and join the On-the-Farm Farm Club members on Farm Days, Shearing Day, at the State Fair, etc.
Farm Tour: If you ever find yourself in Northern California you are invited to schedule a personalized farm tour.
Kit Discount: I am developing add-on kits using Jacob wool yarns that will be introduced throughout the year. As a Farm Club member you will be the first to know about them and will receive an exclusive discount.
