WEAVING CLASSES

Ongoing class--drop in any time!
Weekly Weaving Workshop
Cost:$10/ class  Tw- hour class.
Do you need help...Figuring out how much yarn is needed for a project? Deciphering a threading draft? Deciding on warp & weft yarns and sett? Troubleshooting? This weekly class is an opportunity for you to have your questions answered and to learn from others' weaving questions and experiences. Students will bring ideas, yarns, drafts, finished (and unfinished) projects, and problems for discussion. You can even bring your warping frame or small loom for hand-on help. Come with an idea and go home with a specific plan and/or a warp ready for your loom. Come to one class or come weekly--this class if offered on a drop-in basis. There will be "mini-lessons" at some of the classes (a schedule to be posted later on).

New Class!  Triaxial Weaving       Cost: $50, including materials and supplies. Three hour class.

No loom necessary! Learn to create complex looking designs using colorful ribbon. You will finish one piece in class that is suitable for embellishing another  project or using for a greeting card.

Learn to Weave         Cost: $125, including materials and use of looms. Two day class.

Weave a scarf of soft Jacob wool! Learn how to plan a weaving project, prepare the warp, thread the loom, and weave plain weave and twill variations. You will learn about different kinds of looms and how to find a loom to buy. After you finish this class you will understand enough weaving terminology to follow project instructions in the popular weaving magazines or to design your own pieces.
Class size limited to 4.

Learn to Weave--the Next Step          Cost: $75 for 1 day or $125 for 2 days.
This class is intended for new weaver who would like step-by-step guidance with warping and weaving.  It is also appropriate for the weaver who would like to learn back-to-front warping and pick up other tips and techniques for the whole weaving process.  Day one: You will plan a project, wind the warp, thread the loom, and start weaving if there is time. Day two: You will finish threading the loom and weave the project. You may bring your own yarns or purchase yarns (various  wool, cotton, and rayon yarns) here and may bring your own small loom or use mine. If you wish to take one of  my looms home there is a $25/week charge.  Repeat this class (one or both days) for work with new projects.
Class size limited to 6 (or fewer depending on number of looms).

Weave a V-Shawl (and learn double weave at the same time)

Create a fabulous one of a kind shawl that stays on the shoulders! Use double weave and a unique method of weaving a fold to weave this shawl. Learn to plan future shawls, using stripes, plaids, and various weave structures. Participants will bring a loom (or arrange to use one of mine), but will warp it in class. This is a 2-day class, but I allow a week or so in between the formal class days so that all weavers can catch up to the lessons on the second day. Purchase yarn here or bring your own (consult with me on appropriate yarn).

Two shawls from our first class.
Left: Chris' shawl is woven with a textured wool at 3 epi per layer!
Right: Sally's shawl is woven in Australian Corriedale wool at 8 epi per layer
