FLEECE TO SHAWL

General rules
· Teams of up to 6 (woven shawl) or 8 (knitted shawl).
· Wool will be sent 3 weeks prior to
competition so that teams can wash and/or dye it.
· Weaving contestants: Bring loom warped and ready to weave
(no header).
· Knitting contestants: Start the day with a knitted piece
no larger than 5 square feet (any shape). Junior teams may start with
a piece up to 2 square feet.
· Hand carding or combing is allowed.
· Finished woven shawl (scarf) will be 21" by 72"
(9" by 72"), excluding fringe. Finished knitted shawl
(scarf) will be at least 10.5 square feet (5 square feet for Jr.),
excluding fringe.
· Shawl or scarf is the property of the team.
· Open & Junior competition will run concurrently. All
Junior team members must be 18 years of younger. Open teams may
include members of all ages.
Schedule
8:30-9:45 Set-up, coffee & donuts, time
to chat, time to shop the Wool Show.
9:45 Pre-contest meeting.
10:00 Contest begins.
12:00-1:00 Lunch break for all teams.
1:00-3:00 Finish competition. Judging and
awards follow.
